GCoM Badge Ceremony 2024 and Signatory Municipality Practice Report (30 May 2024, online)

Background

The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy is the world’s movement for promoting local climate and energy actions, aiming for sustainable energy promotion, drastic greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and adaptation to climate change impacts, at the same time mayors pledge their contribution to the achievement of Paris Agreement goals and setting local action plan.
As of April 2024, there are 48 signatory municipalities in Japan. In 2023, 13 of these municipalities submitted monitoring reports, and three were newly awarded compliant badges by the GCoM Global Secretariat. At this event, these advanced municipalities will be awarded their compliant badges. They will report on their activities, share experiences, and exchange opinions with other cities.
